LafargeHolcim has announced that it has signed a deal with Tianjin Circle Enterprise Management Centre that would see the Franco-Swiss multinational sell a 55.93 per cent stake in Sichuan Shuangma Cement for CHF507m (US$525m). Lafarge China launches tender offer for Shuangma Cement

Sichuan Shuangma Cement said its controlling shareholder Lafarge China plans to launch a tender offer for its shares from other shareholders except Lafarge Shui On (Sichuan) Investment for CNY5.64 each, or CNY1.07bn in total. The tender offer is triggered by the merger between Lafarge and Holcim and is pending relevant approval.

Shenzhen-listed producer, Sichuan Shuangma Cement Co, reported a 112.95 per cent loss in net profit for the first half of 2012 to CNY11.64m (US$1.8m) China Business Newswire reports. In the six months to June, the company’s operating revenue was down 6.21 per cent to CNY885m. Basic losses per share stood at CNY0.02.

Sichuan Shuangma Cement Co net profit dropped 32.5% in 2011 to CNY162.65m (US$25.8m), from an adjusted 2010 net profit of CNY240.97m. The company's shares are down 1.4% at CNY8.48, but Dongxing Securities analyst Zhao Junsheng says he sees a longer-term upside. "The fall in profit was expected, and the overall cement sector is facing some pressure right now.
